CanSkate (Learn to Skate) is only level 2 & up (Skaters must be able to get up and skate unassisted).

Pre-CanSkate:  This program is the entry level for beginners who are 3 to 5 years of age with little or no skating history. Children are placed into groups according to ability and taught by a Professional Coach and assisted by Program Assistants. The focus of this program is to make skating fun! Skating skills taught, range from learning to stand and balance to going forwards and backwards. The Pre-CanSkate program is a readiness vehicle to prepare skaters for CanSkate. Once the skaters have passed the set criteria and mastered the essentials needed to move safely and effectively on the ice they can be moved into a CanSkate program.

All that is needed to participate is a Hockey Helmet and Skates!

HELMET POLICY:

  • ALL CANSKATE & CANPOWER PARTICIPANTS ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR A CSA APPROVED HOCKEY HELMET
  • SKATERS WITHOUT A HELMET WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE DURING THAT SESSION

REGISTRATION NOTES:

  • A $45 Skate Canada Membership Fee will be added to invoices per participant.  This is an annual insurance / membership fee by Skate Canada that is effective September 1st of each season.
  • Upon registration, a $40 fundraising levy will be added to the registration total per family.  Each family will receive a box of Purdy's chocolates in return (value of $40) which can then be sold and family keeps the money collected.  This fee is applied once per season.
