RETURNING SEPTEMBER 2024
CANSKATE - LEARN TO SKATE (3 years of age & Up)
NEW SEASON WILL OPEN ONLINE IN AUGUST 2024 FOR LEARN TO SKATE PROGRAMS
Who is CanSkate - Learn to Skate for? For beginners of all ages from 3 years and up, as well as for those wishing to improve their basic skills whether their focus be for figure skating, hockey, speed skating or skating for fun and enjoyment.
What is CanSkate? CanSkate is a dynamic learn-to-skate program that focuses on fun, participation and basic skill development. Based on Sport Canada's long term athlete development (LTAD) principles, CanSkate centres on physical literacy and the fundamental skills needed to take part in any ice sport or to skate as a recreational activity.
What will you learn? A complete series of balance, control and agility skills taught in six stages of learning that pertain to hockey, ringette, speed skating and figure skating as well as general recreational skating. CanSkate uses nationally-tested and proven curriculum and delivery methods that guarantee skater success in developing strong basic skills and developing them faster.
- ALL CANSKATE PARTICIPANTS ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR A CSA APPROVED HOCKEY HELMET
-
SKATERS WITHOUT A HELMET WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE DURING THAT SESSION
- Please Note: A $60 Skate Canada Insurance / Membership Fee will be charged once per participant, per skating year, Sept 1, 2023 to Aug 31, 2024
- FUNDRAISING LEVY (PER FAMILY):
o LEVEL 1: Pre-CanSkate / CanSkate: $60 - choice of either $60 of Purdy's Chocolates or 3 February 2024 Cash Calendars (value $20 each) which can then be sold to redeem cost.
o LEVEL 2: Junior Academy, Star 1 & 2: $ 100 - choice of 1 Box of Purdy's Chocolates ($60) and 2 February 2024 Cash Calendar (value $20 each) or 5 February 2024 Cash Calendars totalling $100. Items can be sold to redeem cost.
- Refunds must be requested. Refunds will be prorated from the day of the request, less insurance and less a $15 administration fee per participant. The Skate Canada insurance fee is non-refundable. Refunds requested after 4 weeks will be issued as a club credit to be used toward future club programming and are non-transferable.
- The Prince George Figure Skating Club is a not-for-profit organization sanctioned by Skate Canada. Fundraising is an important way to help subsidize the costs of daily expenses (eg. cost of ice) that would otherwise be collected through an increase in enrollment or additional administration fees.
